In this workshop students will be introduced to the leather longstitch book. This is a very versatile book structure allowing for a lot of play with different types of leather and different sewing patterns along the spine. These books make perfect journals. All levels of experience are welcome.

Mini Envelope Album (Paper Craft Series)

Instructor: Patricia

When: Saturday, February 25, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Cost: $60 (all materials except scor-tape and tape runner included in cost).

It’s back by popular demand! We're going to make the mini album by repurposing envelopes.  There are

lots of pockets, lots of space for journaling and lots of pictures. We'll even make our own buttons from coordinating paper that you'll be able to use as embellishments.

The design is up to you-- keep it minimal or go wild!

It's been two years since we last offered this class so whether you've

taken it before and want the help to make another or whether you've

been wanting to try one of these neat minis for the first time, join

us for a fun day of playing with paper, glue, bookboard and envelopes.

Students will need to have their own tape runner and refill as well as

a roll of Scor-tape.  We have the scor tape for sale in the bindery

and you can get tape runners at Hobby Lobby or JoAnn's in the

scrapbooking adhesive section.

APRIL

Photo Box

Instructor: Kriste

When: Thursday, April 19 6-9:30 p.m. AND Saturday, April 21 9 a.m.- Noon Cost: $95 (all materials except buttons included in cost).

This box with attached lid is a great container for photos.  We have added a slide-in frame to hold a favorite photo to the hinged cover and used decorative buttons as fasteners.  Your choice of paper and fasteners can be determined by the theme of the photos you plan to store in the box.  This attractive box makes a great way to organize photos (or other ephemera) and makes a wonderful gift for Mother's Day or a favorite graduate. Beginners with hand work experience are welcome. Feel free to call if you have questions.

JUNE & JULY

4th Miniature Book Edition/ Exchange With New Expanded Schedule

Instructor: Lesha

When: Thursdays, June 15 & June 22 6-9:30 p.m. AND July 20 & 27  6-9:30 p.m.

Open Studio (included in price): Saturday, August 4

Cost: $135 (materials not included in price)

Create an edition of miniature books and exchange books with fellow participants. We will make sketches for our books and then figure out how to achieve the vision. The edition will be at least the number of students in the class, plus one for the teacher (who will also be participating). This is an opportunity to explore the structure of the miniature book and how to modify traditional (or nontraditional) techniques as well as addressing the problems/solution of creating an edition. Glue and basic tools will be provided by Little Mountain Bindery, but each student should bring materials that will help create inspiration. This is also a chance to incorporate some of your other hobbies-e.g. knitting, quilting, embroidery, origami, printmaking, photography, screen printing etc. into the structure of a book. This class will last 4 weeks and includes one free open studio. Be prepared to spend time out of class.
